11 tracks of highly expressive material - miscellaneous and lush constellations of what MOX thinks (or thought - everything was recorded in 2000–04 - all is fresh though, as there's no expiry date) of trip-hop, dub, tribal, electronica, noisecore, abstract, psycho-lounge and illbient. Reminds of Controlled Bleeding (mostly their dub works), AphexTwin, Nurse With Wound, Funky Porcini, Coldcut, DJ Spooky and, of course, MOX (Misha Salnikov). Samples - speeches and songs of some famous Russian...

Daniel Vincent, principal songwriter and producer of cult UK post-progressive band The Resonance Association, presents another snapshot from the recording sessions of his forthcoming album "The Enemy Game". The two tracks featured were both written, performed and recorded by Daniel Vincent. Loose Lips Sink Ships opens with some stray guitar ambience before straying headlong into rock heavy doom riffing. As the track progresses, the fine line between groove and melody battle is bent...

DANIEL VINCENT (producer, musician and songwriter from underground prog outfit The Resonance Association) has released a second EP of tracks culled from recording sessions for his upcoming album The Enemy Game. THE ONLY THINGS THAT YOU LEAVE BEHIND features four tracks of a marvellously eclectic nature: We All Get Lost In The Woods - a short edit which accompanied a mysterious 35mm video shot by Daniel with frequent collaborator Howard Gardner The Only Things That You Leave Behind - think...

Onion Jack are Daniel and Peter Vincent. They make ether-melting mind music. Their fine, multi-layered EP, 'Country Mile' (Mrs.Vee, VOJCD02, 2003) is quite simply one of the best albums I've heard this year in the principally indie[scribable] category. The atmospheric title track combines carefully calculated beats, electronic FX, guitar (both electric and acoustic), synth washes and haunting lyrics. A chainsaw buzz coda lays the central theme to rest in a welter of high wire emotion before the...

A selection of rare tracks from the mrsvee archive. Winter Collection is both a retrospective and a teaser. It includes four tracks from an imaginary comeback by Onion Jack - a band I reviewed a few times. They are instrumental numbers full of texture and dreams. There are also four tracks of Daniel Vincent solo with an acoustic guitar recorded in one take. Miracle In You and Go From Here are both songs I’ve heard before with Onion Jack. I am very glad to hear these versions because I did...

The Resonance Association can be a hard sell. This fact becomes clear when you consider the sheer breadth of the band's output since its inception in 2006: four albums, numerous mini albums and EPs, a handful of singles and a live EP. Each release has seen the band take steps into untried waters, experimenting in genres which they would go about claiming their own. Waving Not Drowning, a new 6-track free download, concentrates on their more recent output - taking three tracks in total from...

Four tracks on this CD are quiet, slighly morose, and fragile. Plenty of atmospheric reverbed keyboards and some delicate vocals. They are often nearly static in terms of movement like some of the Penguin Cafe Orchestras works. Peaceful but not soporific - but very much waiting for the right mood to strike you before you want to listen to them. The track listing has 6 tracks on but I can't seem to find one of them. Maybe Onion Jack are too chilled for me even though I appreciate the unsettling...
